I have been using Ibotta for the past year and have saved lots of money with it. I am going to walk you through the bests ways to use this app, including ways to double your rebates and things not to get sucked into!
First you will want to make an account with Ibotta, following this link will give you a $10 bonus! This is a free site to use and all that is required is for you to sign up by making an account. They have a very easy to use app you will want to download once you setup your account.
After you get your account and have the app you will want to choose which stores you shop at. For me, I shop at Smiths, Safeway, Target and Walmart. They also have online stores you can shop from like Ebates does and you get cash back for going through their site, which is a plus! So feel free to choose the stores you shop online as well.
Once you know which store you plan to shop at, you will click the icon. You can either type in the search in the upper right hand corner or the bottom where it says “Find Rebates” to find a certain product. Or you can click “All” and just scroll through all the rebates. If you are interested in a rebate you click the + button in pink and it will ask you a question, answer the questions and then it will be added to “My Rebates” in the bottom. Once you get all the rebates you are interested in go ahead and go shopping.
Either at the store or at home click “Redeem” in the bottom center of the screen and you will be asked where you made your purchase at. Then it will ask for a picture of your receipt and for you to scan the product UPC you bought. Sometimes if you have a large receipt you will need to take multiple pictures to get the whole receipt which is just fine. Make sure you get all the items, the date and the subtotal at the bottom in the pictures. I then hold onto the receipt until I get notified of my earnings being deposited into my Ibotta account.
There are little extras that you might see while you are swiping through, one being 25 cents cash back on any item. This is just a perk so feel free to take advantage of it. All of the rebates add up and heck, you will be at the grocery store anyway!
If you are wanting to shop at another type of store besides a grocery store, just click the store where you want to shop. For instance, click Pier 1 Imports and then select which rebate you prefer. I chose 10% cash back and hit the pink +. Ibotta had me watch a 7 second commercial and the offer showed up in “My Rebates” section. I clicked on it to read the specifics, it is only valid “in-store purchases”. Shop, then take a picture of your receipt and redeem as normal.
Be sure that with all rebates that you read exactly what they are allowing. So if you shopped at Pier 1 online, they would not be giving you the 10% cash back. If you choose a certain type of produce, make sure you have the amount they require such as 1 pound. There are details listed once you click on a rebate so just make sure you read carefully.
There was one time that I had not been given a rebate that they offered and I received an email very shortly after redeeming the product that explained why. I was not able to reply to their email so I went into my account and message them to ask what happened and they responded within one day. I found out it was a misunderstanding and they credited the money for that rebate right away. I was very impressed with their customer service.
Now somethings I would remember when taking part in this program…just because there is a rebate on an item does not mean you need to buy it. It is very easy to over purchase because you want to get the earnings but you will not be saving money if you buy things that you don’t really need. When I first did this I wanted to hit certain bonus’s they were having and quickly I realized that these bonus’s were costing me way more than I was actually earning. So I started making my grocery list first and then looking to see if any of the items matched what I need. This has saved me lots of money doing it this way.
You might be asking what a bonus is… This is a way to earn extra money. If you go into your account and click on Bonuses, you will see different ones available. Feel free to read up on them and see if any are doable for you. Last month I was able to get an extra $5.00 in earnings from taking part in a bonus and honestly it just worked out that way. I didn’t go spend more money than I planned to get the bonus.
When you are ready to redeem your cash you can choose to get a gift card, use PayPal or use Venmo. I personally use Venom and never have had an issue. You have to have a minimum of $20.00 in your account and for some of the gift cards they require $25.00 in your account. Click on the option you prefer. Then it will ask for your password; type your password and your cash will be in your account shortly.
